How many times do we insure ourselves, just in case God fails?
A friend of mine recently shared a true story about a couple who had come to a financial crossroads. They had a tough decision to make — pay the tithe or buy groceries for their family.
If you’re like me, this is probably a no-brainer, right? Buy the groceries.
But is that the right decision?
This post is not about tithing. It’s not about giving. It’s not about ministry.
It’s about faith.
Ephesians 2:8-9 says:
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast.
We say we have faith. But do we really?
Most of us will buy the groceries. And we will justify it somehow.
Most of us never give God the chance to work. We take it upon ourselves to make sure we work things out to get our intended result without allowing Him to do that thing He’s done so well since the beginning of time — provide.
God never fails.
He’s proven over and over and over again that He loves us and will provide.
Yet, we rarely display genuine faith in God. If genuine faith was common, the stories of God’s provision wouldn’t seem so miraculous.
So, what did the couple do?
They prayed. And they tithed. And they trusted.
And how did God respond?
He provided. In abundance. All they needed, and more.
Do you have a story of faith?
The world needs to hear these stories. We need to see how God works. If you have one of these stories, share it widely. People need to hear about the hope in Christ, the provision and love of our Father, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
