Have you ever found an old box of love letters?
Maybe they were your grandparents’ or your parents’ letters.
Or, do you remember writing that anonymous love note?
The one you wrote for the girl you were goofy for in high school and had your friend pass it to her during class? Then you waited to see how she reacted when she read it?
Letter writing is a lost art. Now, we simply buy cards that say “just the right thing” instead of penning our own words. In the time it takes us to drive to Walgreens after work and scramble to find the perfect leftover card before we get home, we could’ve grabbed a pen and shared a few genuine thoughts on a simple sheet of paper and put it in an envelope.
It’s Valentine’s Day. Before the day is up, try to take a few minutes to write an old-fashioned love letter.
Use 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 as your inspiration:
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
