Have you ever promised a friend that you’d pray for him … and then forgot?
Sadly, I used to do this quite often. Mostly, it was because I was not comfortable praying aloud or praying with someone. When the request was made, I’d promise to pray, then I’d tuck the request in the back of my mind and forget.
A pastor once told me that he had so many requests for prayer that he made a commitment to pray immediately whenever he was asked.
That’s great advice.
If you follow that guide, you don’t miss any opportunities, you are being obedient, and you’re giving the people who ask for prayer a peace that someone out there is interceding on their behalf.
If someone is visiting your church and they witness church members stopping and praying for each other, it’s a sign that the church is a place where they will be cared for and loved.
If you’re in a situation when it’s not possible to stop what you’re doing and pray right then and there, you need to have a method to help you remember the prayer requests, and then — this is important — be sure to follow up with the person and let him or her know the prayers were said.
If you’ve ever been on the receiving end of prayer, it’s quite a blessing to know people are joining with you to petition the Father.
Do you have a special method you use to remember prayer requests?
