When Corinn and I were preparing to move our family from Missouri to Texas, we were completelely overwhelmed.
We were scrambling to pack, scrambling to paint, clean, and do all of the things to get our house ready to sell.
It’s a daunting task, especially when you’re on a tight schedule.
Our Sunday School class did an amazing thing for us.
The members came to our house and helped us get it ready to sell. They did in four hours what it would’ve taken me a week or more to accomplish. Landscaping, weeding, painting, cleaning, hedge trimming, power washing. All it cost us was a couple pots of coffee and a box of donuts.
It was one of the most humbling experiences of my life.
Recently, our new Sunday School class did a similar outreach for a church member. It was well-received, and she’s a lot closer to getting the home on the market.
Spring is fast approaching. Members of your church, people in your neighborhood will be moving. Maybe you can organize a similar ministry. With a dozen people, those jobs are a lot less daunting. And at the end of a productive work day, you — and the person you’re helping — will be blessed.
