I wonder how much money is spent on wrapping paper each year.
My wife gets mad at me because I’m not a fan of wrapping paper. During our first year of marriage I wrapped her birthday gifts in newspaper.
She wasn’t amused (probably because I happened to use the obit page).
Frankly, I think wrapping paper is a waste.
But our society loves packaging, doesn’t it?
Despite the adage that says, “Don’t judge a book by its cover,” marketers spend millions of dollars and just as many hours perfecting the packaging that will grab our attention.
We spend so much time wrapping things to make them pretty, just so the wrapping can be ripped off in record time and tossed aside to get to the prize. As you know, sometimes the best prizes come in a generic cardboard box.
Our interim pastor said something Sunday that has stuck with me. He said, “The power is not in how you say it but what you say”.
He was talking about sharing the Gospel and sharing your testimony with others.
Do you ever find yourself failing to share the Gospel, or failing to share your testimony, because you feel inadequate — ill-prepared or not “educated” enough?
God has wrapped the story in you, whether you’re a seminary trained theologian or a new believer. The Holy Spirit will give you the words and the power to speak. Yield to it, and take that leap of faith.
People need to hear. We’ve been given the command to tell.
Be encouraged. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you opportunities.
