How should we respond to the shooting in Connecticut?

Yesterday was unfathomable.

We all are asking “Why?”

I’m not a counselor or a pastor. I’m a Christian. I’m a Daddy. Like you, I’m numb and stunned. And I’m angry.

I suspect we won’t ever get the earthly response we need to heal completely.

Personally, I believe the proper response for us as Christians is prayer.

  • Prayer for the families of those who lost loved ones
  • Prayer for the mommies and daddies who lost their little children
  • Prayer that God will be revealed to these parents and families and give them the comfort that only He can give, the comfort and peace that surpasses all understanding
  • Prayer for the survivors, the teachers and kids and emergency responders who had to witness these events
  • Prayer for a community to unite and heal
  • Prayer for all children everywhere

What we should NOT do:

  • Do not politicize this in any way
  • Do not say that these children and these adults died because of some sort of societal sins
  • Do not act out in anger
I’m sure there are other appropriate responses, but prayer is probably the best place to begin.
