Churches have many audiences.
Young families, seniors, men, women, choir, small groups, deacons, elders, singles, youth, children, volunteers, and more.
The schedule for such a diverse organization can be hectic. It’s important that all members of the church can go to one resource — a master calendar — to see exactly what’s going on. Often, these calendars are online resources, but they can be printed pieces as well.
Master calendars are important to churches’ internal communication efforts, as they:
- Keep events from being scheduled on top of one another
- Provide a visual aid for administrators to see a comprehensive list of activities so they can gauge if those activities are on mission
- Allow for effective stewardship of time and resources
- Provide an opportunity for visitors to see how active the church is and what kind of outreach efforts and ministries are being employed throughout the community
The most important step in this process is that churches should ask one VERY organized person to maintain this calendar. This person needs to be able to collect all of the calendar requests and build the calendar in an effective manner.
A master calendar is a crucial step in your church marketing strategy.
How does your church organize its calendar of events and make it available to the congregation?
